To graduate from the media studies curriculum, a student must meet the general university and college requirements for the degree and must complete the following courses:

3 COMM 317–History of Communication
3 COMM 320–Popular Culture or COMM 321–Film Culture
3 COMM 331–Media and Democracy or COMM 410–Media Ethics
3 COMM 351–Social Aspects of Media
3 COMM 264–Economic Structure of Communications
15-29 Advertising, journalism or communications electives. COMM 101 and 166 count against the maximum but not against the minimum.
30-44 Subtotal in College of Communications. COMM 101 and 166 count against the maximum but not against the minimum.
18 At least 18 hours in one or two approved areas outside of the College of Communications, such as cinema studies, economics, history, literature, non-English languages, philosophy, political science, sociology, psychology, regional area studies, or sociology or a university-approved minor that requires at least 18 hours. A minimum of three courses or 9 hours is required in each area.
