Sociologists study the organization and construction of social relations
among individuals, including phenomena such as stratification, social
movements, institutional change, intergroup relations, and population
change. Sociologists generate, modify, and assess theories of social
behavior and organization using a variety of analytic and methodological
approaches.
Each student should see a sociology departmental adviser at least
once a year to choose sociology courses and supporting course work,
and to monitor progress.
An interdisciplinary minor in gerontology is available for LAS majors
in psychology and sociology. See Gerontology.
