Most students wishing to complete
the preprofessional requirements for veterinary medicine in the College of
Agriculture follow Option 1 of the agricultural science major, or the
animal sciences major-science option.
Because of the competition for
admission, the student should plan a bachelor's degree program that will
prepare him or her for a career alternative should admission to the
professional program not be obtained. Recently there have been
approximately two qualified applicants for each space available in the
entering class in veterinary medicine. The mean grade-point average of
admitted students was slightly above 4.5 (A = 5.0). Specific information
about veterinary medicine, including admission requirements, can be found
in the College of Veterinary Medicine section.
