Teacher Education Minor in History*

For a minor in history, a student must complete at least 9 semester hours in American history, and 9 semester hours in world history. No more than 15 of these 18 hours may be at the 100 level. Students must also take at least another 6 hours of electives, which should include attention to ethnic history and the history of women. The minimum total required for the minor is 24 hours. Nine of the 24 total hours must be at the 200 or 300 level.

Teacher Education Minor in Psychology

A minimum of 22 hours in psychology is required, with at least one course (a minimum of 3 hours) in each of the following areas: introductory psychology; statistics; personality-developmental, experimental, and social. It is strongly recommended that the additional hours include courses dealing with methods of research in psychology. Students are advised that additional course work may be necessary to teach middle grades six through eight after June 30, 1996. Teacher Education Minor in Social Studies

For a minor in social studies, a student must complete at least 8 hours of work in each of two of the following subjects: anthropology, economics, human geography, political science, sociology. The minimum total required for the minor is 24 hours from these five areas. Students are advised that additional course work may be necessary to teach middle grades six through eight after June 30, 1996.
