The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers curricula for the
preparation of teachers of French, German, Latin, Russian, and
Spanish. Teacher education minors are also available in these
languages and in Italian and Portuguese. Students are advised that
additional course work may be necessary to teach middle grades six
through eight after June 30, 1996, and foreign languages in grades
nine through twelve after June 30, 1997. Consult the certification

Specialty for Teaching a Foreign Language in Both High
School and Elementary School. A student who wishes to prepare for
teaching a foreign language at the elementary and secondary school
levels should consult the certification officer at the Council on
